Otherwise I would never put it in anything. This stuff truly is a last attempt to get a few more days out of it. Absolutely not to be used as preventative maintenance though. Poking a few small hole in sealer cap is a great idea also - you can slow pour it as instructed and avoid clumping. Not fond of these types of fixes personally and I would not dump a vehicle like that on someone because I feel it is not fair. No radiator cap so I poured blue devil in cold (non-running) ing small funnel thru hose connected to radiator from coolant reservoir. I had a small transmission leak and had read some good reviews of Blue Devil products and decided, what the heck. I have heard this my entire 49 years, and have told others the same. Never use any oil or transmission additives. Not really the way to fix something correctly but if you do need the car to go a few more days or if you are trying to dump it then this stuff does work. Porschescum Discussion Starter I know better. We ended up putting a motor in it but I will admit that it did fix what was basically a non running car for quite a few miles. After about 2 months they decided to change the coolant and she blew again at that point. Scary as it seems the car was sold to someone that actually got in it and drove it to Florida (17-19 hours) and had no issues. My guess is it had a cracked hear or blown HG. I had a hard time going through the process because the car kept overheating but after a few tries it just ram smooth as silk. You MUST remove the thermostat to do this process otherwise it will ruin it. Pouring this product into a vehicle with a bad oil leak.will it really. It turns into something that looks like styrofoam when it reacts with the compression i guess that was entering the cooling system. 934 Share 92K views 1 year ago Maintenance In this video Andy Phillips puts Blue Devil Oil Stop Leak to the test. It is pristine and so is the rest of the system.I have used Blue Devil before and it was in a vehicle that got traded, not running. My radiator drain wasn't working, so I had to disconnect my lower radiator hose each. This stuff requires that you flush the coolant system until it runs clear water. YES my coolant was clean because I know someone will say that. Below is my old Sienna during the last timing belt and water pump change at 412,000 miles, you can see the water pump cavity. Tried Blue Devil, worked for a day, clogged radiator. In the past 35 years of maintaining my vehicles and most recently in the last 1.2 million miles on my current vehicles I have never used a cleaner or flush. Like many people who post here about "cleaning" something, it doesn't appear that you know for sure it needs flushing with a cleaner. I wanted to know which is better, or used more. doing flushes, why ask? Because, I have NEVER used either one of the aforementioned products. Now, how would YOU handle this? IMHO, a flush would be the BEST solution in this case. The last time it was flushed and had new coolant was at 62K miles. WHY flush the coolant system? He has 181K miles on his 2K Silverado. For the last 20 years or more I have used DISTILLED WATER ONLY to flush and fill, AFTER flushing the chemicals out of the system. On some vehicles I even installed the Prestone flush TEE.įast forward to today's times. I still used Prestone flushing products back then. I have been doing coolant flushes on vehicles for well over 30 years +. Given all of the potential problems you might create (i.e., introducing tap water with minerals that will likely cause corrosion, "cleaning" chemicals that the cooling system was never designed to handle.the list goes on), why do you (or your friend) want to "flush" a cooling system?
